The Dutch Market

December 1: We loaded the coolers in the trunk for a shopping spree at the PA Dutch Market in Annapolis. It's the only place we can buy pork that tastes like pork! Bill gets jalapeno bread and jalapeno hotdogs; David gets Lancaster County swiss, dutch crumb donuts, and bulk spices, herbs and chicken/beef base.

These two young girls were better merchants than suburban teenagers twice their ages!

Thanksgiving

November 22: We day tripped to Dover for a family dinner out at Dover Downs. [Opponents of the statewide smoking ban had predicted that nonsmoking would be the downfall of casino gambling; now, two years later, the casinos are doubling their size in both Dover and Harrington!]

Autumn Color in the MidAtlantic

This year fall color was late to develop in the MidAtlantic. Many trees were stressed by the drought and some seemed to be losing leaves prematurely without a significant color change. But, after a week in paradise, we returned to a surreal landscape of bold yellows, oranges and reds which lasted through Thanksgiving.

Maui Ocean Center

November 9: The Maui Ocean Center on Ma'alaea Bay turned out to be a highlight of the trip. In the afternoon we went to Little Beach below Makena (sans camera) and there was much pointing and looking as a sea turtle swam by in the open ocean. That alone was worth the whole trip.

Site under construction, please come back later.
