Our Last Day: Tybee and Savannah
September 7, 2010: We started the day with a beach trip to Tybee:
Hal with the ribs and Nancy with barbecue pork, collards and macaroni 'n' cheese:
We spent the late afternoon wandering along Bull Street in historic downtown Savannah:
The Daniel Chester French statue of Georgia founder James Edward Oglethorpe sits in the center of Chippewa Square. Oglethorpe is in 18th century military attire with sword drawn facing Spanish Florida. The base with four lions was designed by New York architect Henry Bacon. A decade later, French and Bacon collaborated on the Lincoln Memorial.
