A Snow Day in Virginia

Northern Virginia, Dec. 5, 2009: The season's first snow storm came up the Blue Ridge from the south, so we took our snow boots and extra sweaters to spend a day shopping in the Virginia suburbs, having a special birthday lunch in Lansdowne and hearing an evening jazz guitar concert.

The storm in Reston:

In the late afternoon, we drove west to Washington, VA to attend an evening concert. We allowed ample time because of the storm, but the farther west we went, the lighter the snow and the clearer the roads. We had ample time to walk around the village with some window shopping along the way.
