Dover Daytrip

Dover, DE, March 28: We stopped first at an Amish supermarket, Bylers, and then at Spence's Bazaar:

Then, on to the Biggs Museum. It's like a mini Winterthur with 18th and 19th century art and decorative arts from the Delaware Valley. There's a Gilbert Stuart, a Sully and most of the Peales!

This most unusual 1858 black and white painting by Alice Barber Stephens seems to anticipate black and white photography and film:
